On September 7, Gary Church
introduces a new Sunday morning faith experience for kids from 9 to 10:50 AM–
FAITH Station!
This new format is designed to create more
integrated and cohesive Christian education experience for the kids – a place
to worship,
grow and serve…together! Check out the CONNECTIONS ministry

FAITH Station! Volunteers are
needed! FAITH Station offers new and new
and exciting ways for youth and adults to serve. Please visit

Children’s Summer Schedule – The Parables of Jesus
continues today. Please note that
Sundays through August childcare and
Children’s Worship is offered during the 9
AM hour only. Please plan to pick your
children up immediately following the 9 AM
worship service today.
Deeper
Connections – The Parables of Jesus – this adult Bible Study opportunity concludes this
week at 10 AM in Commons E. The
study is
facilitated by Phil Isgrigg, Lisa Notter and Ken Jeppsen. Everyone is welcome!
Rally Days for Children, August
24 & 31, 9 – 10 AM.
We’ll
“rally” together to celebrate the end of summer and the beginning of the
“new thing” that will be happening for kids
on Sunday mornings this fall. Childcare
is available from 9 AM to 10 AM on these dates.

Labyrinth Walk tonight, Sunday, August 17, Activity
Center.
Introduction to the labyrinth begins at 6:15 PM and the walk begins at
7
PM. The labyrinth has been used in the
Christian tradition since the 12th century as a tool for centering and finding
peace. Please
feel free

Evangelism Committee will
meet Monday, August 25 in the Heritage room.
Men’s and Women’s Bible Study books are available

Courtyard
and West Garden shrub and tree plantings available for memorials or honorariums to provide an opportunity for
you to
remember or honor loved ones and
friends. Donations fund individual and
groupings of plants, including a plaque recognizing your
loved one.

meet Tuesday, September 23
to discuss Elizabeth Gaskell's Cranford. Note change in selection.

Faith Leaders
host Chicago Summit for Just Peace in the Middle East today, 3 to 6 PM Muslims, Christians and Jews who work for
justice, peace and
reconciliation in the Holy Land are invited to attend this dialogue which will
be held at Elmhurst College in the
lower level of Hammerschmidt Memorial Chapel, 190 Prospect Ave., Elmhurst. For more information, contact Tony Asta.
Gary Church to
host P.A.D.S. at 1st Congregational Church, Glen Ellyn on August 31 and
September 7. If you are able to help
provide part of a meal for supper,
breakfast or sack lunch, sign up sheets are in the Commons. If you have any questions, contact

Dine Away
Hunger, Wednesday, August 20:
Local area restaurants are donating 10% of their sales to help People’s
Resource Center
serve over 2,000 low-income DuPage County
families each month. Flyers of supporting
restaurants are available in the Commons.
Gary
Church sponsored family needs occasional childcare. This family, sponsored through Bridge
Communities, consists of a mom
and 2 school-aged children. Volunteers are needed at their home in Glen
Ellyn once every other week on Thursday from 6:30 – 9 PM.
To volunteer for an evening (or more)

New batch of Guatemalan Coffee has arrived! Your donation of $12 will help fund a
teacher's salary at the Fundaninos orphanage.
Coffee
can be purchased during Special Blend or by contacting Rick Conrad or Allen
Reed.
Opportunity to support refugees: Over the next 3 months, there will be 5
families per week resettled in the area.
They come from
Iran,
Iraq, Cuba, Sudan, Somalia, Bhutan among other countries. The families are in need of furniture items,
friendly visitors,
transportation,
etc. Pick up a copy of support and
volunteer opportunities at the Mission & Outreach bulletin board. For more

Events
A Taizé Prayer Service will be held Friday, August 22,
7:30 PM at First Presbyterian Church, 715 N. Carlton, Wheaton. Taizé Prayer
is an
ecumenical form of prayer modeled after a community founded in the 1940's by
Br. Roger in Taizé, France. For more

DuPage
P.A.D.S. Run/Walk to be held Saturday, September 6, 8 AM.
Serious runners, fun runners and walkers will all enjoy this
fundraising event. Registration fees are $25 for 10K or 5K Run
and $20 for 3K Walk. Proceeds will fund
various programs within the
P.A.D.S. organization such as counseling,
employment readiness and supportive housing for the homeless in DuPage
County. For
