Rally Days - Sunday August 24 and 31, 9-10:00am

    We'll rally together to celebrate the end of summer and the beginning of the new thing that will be

    happening for kids on Sunday mornings this fall. Childcare is available from 9-10am on these dates.

 

    The Sunday morning format for children is designed to weave one theme throughout each Sunday

    and create an integrated and cohesive Christian Education experience for kids.

    All children are invited to attend worship in the sanctuary. Those age three through 5^th grade may

    come forward for a children's message and then go to Faith Station.

    Faith Station has four components:

             9:15-9:45 A kid friendly worship experience upstairs in the activity center.

             9:45-10:00 Small group age level groupings for discussion and fellowship in Gamon Hall

                              to enable our kids to know God and one another in new and deeper ways downstairs

             10-10:30 A time in Gamon Hall to dig deeper into the weekly theme through hands-on

                            learning experiences in a small group age level environment.

             10:30-10:50 Kids learn about and participate in the missions of Gary Church

                                through interactive activities focused on how we grow, serve, nurture, demonstrate and proclaim.

  Wednesday 6:45-8pm September through May
    Kindergarten - 5^th graders are encouraged to engage their imagination to explore the meaning and mysteries in the Bible

    through visual images and other creative arts. Kid SPIRIT is a learning environment that creates opportunities for children

    to build on their faith, make friends and enjoy times of fellowship with God and their peers.

    Each week the children will demonstrate together ways they can serve, grow and nurture one another

 

            Other Activities for Kids

3^rd Grade Bible Adventure - October 19^th
    Our third graders will receive a new Bible from Gary Church during the 9am worship service as they begin the
    3rd Grade Bible Adventure for a special four weeks designed to help them learn how to use their new Bibles.

Family Communion Retreat November 15th
    ...from 9am - 1pm for interactive learning for parents and children as we explore the rich meaning of Holy Communion.

Pumpkin Patch Party Friday October 24^th
    Kids of all ages will travel Marcy Newberry in Chicago to join our friends for an harvest festival of games, snacks, crafts and a pumkin'
    good time. The bus leaves from Gary Church at 2pm sharp. The party is from 4-5:30pm and we plan to return to Gary by 7:00pm.

Scouting Ministries
    Gary Church sponsors Boy Scout Troop 35 and Cub Scout Pack 335.

Gary United Methodist Preschool 

    United Methodist Preschool is in its 37^th year of serving our church, the city of Wheaton and the neighboring communities.
    The 3-year-olds meet on Tuesdays and Thursday mornings. The 4-year-olds meet on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings..

Vacation Bible School

    ...will be held June 22-26, 2009.

 

            Childcare

Childcare Reservations are required at all times other than during regularly scheduled worship services on Wednesday and Sunday.
    Reservations are not necessary Sunday 8:45m to Noon or Wednesday 6:30-8pm. Childcare may not
    be available to your child without a reservation. Reservations can be made by contacting
    Heather Janiak one week prior to the event at childcare@garychurch.org or 630-276-6765.
