You Are Invited to Sing!
Music scores are waiting, dynamic instrumentalists and soloists are in place, and now...all we need are YOUR VOICES! Get ready to raise the roof with Robert Ray's exciting Gospel Mass! This groundbreaking piece unites our voices in worship, proclaims the gospel of Jesus Christ, and it just might be the most fun you will ever have in choir.
We are excited to collaborate with Paul Langford (piano), David Rush (percussion), Larry Brown, Jr. (guitar), and vocalists Cedric Jefferson and Pamela Rose Bucheit. You won't want to miss the opportunity to sing with these amazing musicians, and you will want to invite everyone you know to attend services on May 20.
Jillian Harrison-Jones comes to work with the Festival Choir on May 3! A conductor, lyric soprano, voice teacher, clinician and scholar, Ms. Harrison-Jones researches performance practice of African American spirituals and gospel music, and devotes her career to choral works and biographies of African American composers. She will bring our singing to life with historical and spiritual insights from Ray's monumental work, and with authentic gospel style.
Festival Choir rehearsals are Thursdays: April 5, 12, 19, 26 and May 3, 10 and 17; 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. All voices are welcome! Faithful attendance is required for participation (maximum of two absences). Dress rehearsal is required on Saturday, May 19, 9:00 a.m. to noon. Our performance in worship is May 20, 9:00 and 11:00 a.m.
