Sharon began ringing handbells at Collegiate United Methodist Church in Ames, Iowa in 1971, and has directed one or more handbell ensembles at Gary United Methodist Church since 1985.

A chemical engineer by training, she worked as an engineer and manager for BP-Amoco for 12 years. She now offers handbell workshops and private lessons through Bronze Ringing Resources, her consulting practice.

She is completing four years as Illinois State Chair for the American Guild of English Handbell Ringers.

Sharon is a charter member of The Agape Ringers, an auditioned community handbell ensemble in the Chicago area. She rings solos and is a member of the handbell quartet, Qudrille.

"Handbells provide three important opportunities for church members. First to actively participate in worship, second to provide a setting in which to exercise our God-given musical talents, and third to provide a small circle of friends and fellowship within the larger church community."
